FBI Raid Seeks Illicit World-of-Warcraft "Gold"

http://www.annarbor.com

FBI agents raided the home of two college students as part of an investigation into fraudulent sales or purchases of virtual currency that people use to advance in the popular online role-playing game World of Warcraft. Authorities seized laptop computers, hard drives, video game systems, credit cards, a cell phone, paperwork and other computer equipment. "They took all my stuff," said one of the students, although authorities made no arrests. Authorities are investigating whether someone tried to set up fraudulent bank accounts to buy and sell "virtual currency" or "gold" to be used in the game.

Warcraft Gold...

The big problem with gold sellers is that they're usually ID thieves and get more gold by breaking in to accounts to get it, usually the accounts of people they've "sold" gold to. The best solution to this problem is for Blizzard to ban those people from the game. If you encounter one in the game, just report him/her. There's no reason to get the FBI involved. Another solution would be for Blizzard to sell gold themselves, seeing as they sell in-game mounts... Furthermore, gold is really easy to make, you play the game for a week at level 85 and you can easily make 3 to 4 thousand gold in that time. You can do just daily quests for twenty minutes and easily make over 100 gold a day. There's gold everywhere in the game.
